Frequently asked questions.
How long is a therapy session?
Therapy sessions last 50 minutes. I do offer 90-minute sessions upon request. I meet with clients on a once-a-week or every-other-week basis.
What should I expect during my first therapy session?
I like to take time to get to know my clients and build a safe relationship with them. We will take a few minutes at the beginning and the end of the session to get to know one another. Our first therapy session will be information gathering; we will paint a broad picture of your life, relationships, and symptoms. We will also use that session to establish a few preliminary goals for our work.
What types of diagnoses do you work with?
I work with clients with all types of diagnoses and life experiences. Some specialties include trauma, chronic shame, anxiety, and depression. If you are worried that your diagnosis might not suit my work, reach out to me and I can answer your questions and help you find someone I know who might specialize in what you are looking for.
Do you take insurance?
I am in-network with Aetna, Cigna, and Optum. I can also provide a superbill for out-of-network coverage.
Do you prescribe medication?
No, I do not prescribe medication, but I’m happy to provide a list of psychiatric referrals for those who are interested.
How do I find your office?
My office is located inside the Livestock Exchange Building in the West Bottoms of Kansas City. Once you enter through the front or rear doors, you will take the elevator to the fourth floor and follow signs for Suite 453.
Where can I park?
There is free 2-hour parking on the north side of the building. You are also free to use any of the street parking on Genessee St.
Ready to get started?
Reaching out is a big step, and I don’t take it lightly. If you’re looking for a space to feel heard and understood, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
